January 4, 2009My deepest sympathy for John TravoltaThe teenage son of actor John Travolta died suddenly yesterday during a family vacation in the Bahamas, according to police and the family's lawyer. Jett Travolta, 16, suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay resort on Grand Bahama Island. The teen apparently hit his head and a caretaker found him unconscious in the bathroom yesterday morning. He was taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, where he was pronounced dead, according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Department. Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston. They also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella. An autopsy was pending, police said.
My deepest sympathy for John Travolta and his family :(

May 31, 2008MCR's new message about - TBPIDTHE BLACK PARADE IS COMING!
The Black Parade is Dead! is coming. We are really proud of it and hope you love it as much as we do. Unfortunately, because we are perfectionists and would never let anything get to you that was not the very best, it has been delayed by a week. There was a strange glitch in the Mexico City performance due to some electronic something or other. But it is fixed. So now it is going to be in stores on July 1. To all of our pre-order and special packaging buddies, you will not need to do anything different. It will get to you in tip-top shape. We saw the special package last week. You are going to be so happy if you already purchased this. If you didn't, we're sure you're a happy person anyway, but wow is this incredible. We hope that all of you understand and thank you in advance. It is really awesome to know that you will. We will keep you updated on things as they come. We will start writing very soon. xoxoxo, MCR

May 26, 200812 year old commits suicide - Emo trend is blamedI cannot believe this. Another stupid teenager taking their life away. I am sorry I know I am supposed to feel sorry for her but I really can't. These teenagers are looking at "suicide" as a way to get out of their problems. Suicide is not the easy way out. It hurts your family, friends and all those who love you, so it is the selfish way out. I am not saying this about everyone who commits suicide, certain people really have extremly deep problems but all these young teenagers who have so much to live for.... it's such a shame really. I can't believe they are also making it sound that everyone who wears "converse" and "black make up" is emo and will try to kill themselves. Labels, labels, labels ...... can't they just blame the kid for once? You know let her take the responsibility for her actions?
Anyway here is the article from Mibba: After the news of an American 13-year-old girl committing suicide, similar news astonish the public eye. Andrada, a 12-year-old girl from Bucharest, Romania, killed herself on Monday, May 12th by jumping off the 12-story building she resided. Her classmates have stated that the young girl had recently joined the lines of the "Emo Cult", a teenage current that is accused of encouraging depression, self-mutilation, and even suicidal behaviour. The girl lived with her mother, after her parents had divorced years before and, reportedly, she had been left by her boyfriend(who was several years older) a few days before. The neighbors spotted her coming home early from school, and going inside the apartment where she lived with her mother. Not much later, a strange sound was heard, and the dead body of the child was seen on the pavement, close to the building. Andrada left a goodbye note, which contained an apology, but also the girl's accusation that her mother considered her a burden. She wrote that her mother could now "finally live, without the burden of having a problem child". The news of the tragic suicide of such a young person has brought the Romanian media and people alike in shock, after being practically in the dark about the "Emo" phenomenon. Special news editions are being held for the mere discussing of the subject of the Emo trend with psychologists and young "Emos" invited. Emo or not, these things shouldn't happen - yet another pre-teen has missed her chance to life.

May 21, 2008Interview With Gerard by Brian HeaterBy Brian Heater
For The Daily Cross Hatch You’d be forgiven for initially writing off Umbrella Academy as something of a vanity project. After all, as the comics medium continues to prove itself an ample source of fodder for nearly every aspect of popular culture, from popcorn movies to fine art to literature, celebrities ranging from Michael Chabon to Jenna Jameson have begun happily attaching themselves to the form’s perpetual balancing act between the worlds of high and low art, with mixed amounts of success and legitimacy.
For those whose knowledge of Gerard Way begins and ends with the last half-dozen years spent as the frontman of the wildly successful pop-punk outfit, My Chemical Romance, the concept of the singer penning a mini-series for Dark Horse seems perhaps a little more than a method of killing time between the release of records. Such assumptions couldn’t be further from the truth, however. As the artist himself will readily attest, comics are Way’s first love. Years before the birth of MCR, he graduated from Manhattan’s School of Visual Arts in 1999, with BFA in comics studies, working his way up to an internship with DC Comics.
The release of his first Umbrella Academy mini-series for Dark Horse marks the fulfillment of a lifelong dream temporarily sidelined by a multi-platinum recording career. It also collects an intriguing and thoroughly entertaining debut from an artist weaned on the perpetualcosmicmindfuck of Grant Morrison’s seemingly tireless pen.
How do comics interviews tend to differ music interviews? They’re actually very different. I’m not doing any band press right now, because we needed a break, and we haven’t made a record for a while. After a while, you don’t have much to talk about, and you start answering the same questions, over and over. The reason why I’m still doing comic press and not music press is because I still have a lot to talk about, and now there’s six issues, and not just one album, so there’s a lot more to talk about, right now. They’re very different I would say. You could read into a comic, and I can kind of give you answers, whereas you can read into a song and I can’t. The song is what you want it to be-the comic is ultimately what the writer wants it to be.
The song format is inherently more abstract than comic storytelling.
Mm-hm. Totally. It’s a little more liquid. But, oddly enough, the comic is a bit more abstract, too. But of course with anything, you can read something into it. It’s like with The Watchmen, “well, what did you get out of it?” Obviously everyone gets something different. But the specifics-you can’t change those.
It’s interesting though, because you’ve moved a bit more toward storytelling with your music, as well.
I did, yeah, absolutely. And yet, I find when giving music interviews that it’s still a lot more difficult to talk about the stories, I guess because in some ways they’re very personal. But yeah, when I was trying to break into comics and then started to be in a band, I was like, “well, I want to tell stories, and I can’t do comics right now, so I guess I’ll do it with the band.” I guess that’s why there’s so much storytelling in the music, and why I also felt like I could do a comic.
Did you ultimately decide that you wanted to do one over the other, or did fate just work it out for you?
The band and the music-that just kind of found me. I think that comics were a thing that I was always doing. I’d done them since I was a kid, I went to art school, I interned at DC-that was what I wanted, what I chose. And then music kind of found me, and I found that sometimes you have to listen to whatever’s out there, whatever it’s telling you. Sometimes you find out that you’re very good at something that you had no idea, that you’d never tried. So I listened to that voice and actually did it, and created some amazing stuff with the guys. Making the music was like a necessity-it was like therapy. Doing the comic was like more of an enjoyable thing. It’s less of me dying a little bit, and ripping my soul out, and it’s more straight telling stories and saying stuff at the same time, but it’s not as brutal on me.
Were comics always on the table, or did you feel as if you had abandoned them at one point?
There was a time when I felt it difficult, because I had such a desire to make them and had such a hard time getting my vision across and trying to get picked up. There was a time when I tried to do them in the background, and then there came a time when I was doing so much music, and I was on the road so much that I was like, ‘you know what? I really miss reading comics,’ and luckily at the time, a lot of great comics had started coming out. And that’s another thing, there wasn’t a lot of stuff that I was interested in, about the time that I turned my back on it.
You went to school at SVA.
Yeah.
What did you study?
My major was cartooning. The major was comics, and I had everyone from Joe Orlando, right before he passed away to Carmine Infantino, Joe Cavalieri, Klaus Jansen, Dame Darcy-I had the full run, modern, classic, indie. All of my instructors were these comic great. I had full training from all of these people.
You were doing a lot of drawing, as well?
Yeah. That was actually the concentration for me-not just the writing of comics, but the drawing. Which I why I ended up doing so much design work for Umbrella Academy, because I spent years just drawing-even when I was in the van, I still drew.
Why did you surrender the actual drawing aspect?
I wanted the comic to come out [laughs]. It was very important. [Editor Scott Allie] and [artist Gabriel Ba] did such an amazing job making sure that this thing came out on time. That was very important that people weren’t waiting for me to get around to finishing it. I didn’t want that at all. I wanted to tell stories. I didn’t have an ego about it. I didn’t have to draw. It didn’t matter, as long the stories got told.
How long were the characters around, before you actually got around to telling the story?
I’d say a good three years. There were some seeds that were planted, well before that, but I’d say as far as the Umbrella Academy itself, in terms of the specific characters and plot, that was about two years of being on the road, being clean and sober, and sitting there with all of these art supplies and time and energy and inspiration, and kind of wanting to escape the music business, at the same time. Wanting to escape the road, I would dive into my sketch book and would draw for hours. I feel, for how well developed they ended up being, that they came together quickly, and they just started really writing themselves.
Was the fact that it was a team book born out of having created so many characters at the same time?
Yeah. I think you’re totally right, that’s why it was a team book, because I like constant change and constant evolution, and sticking with just one character, to me would have just-I probably would have ended up spending more time with this supporting cast than with the main character. There are so many characters that I want to introduce that aren’t really superheroes in the traditional sense, and I want to put them in the book. I want to focus on them a little bit, and this is the kind of book where I can do that. I want to be able to constantly change my mind.
It seems like there are no superheroes in the traditional sense in this book.
Yeah, I would totally say that. Nobody is a traditional hero. It’s kind of cool-‘superhero’ is not really a word that’s even said in the book. They’re just extraordinary. In the world today, if you’re someone who can infinitely hold your breath underwater, you’d be pretty special. And if you were the best in the world with a knife, you’d be really special. And Spaceboy being the best boy pilot makes him one of the most famous people in the world. There’s not a lot of superhero moments in there. They don’t have these epic battles versus evildoers. They’re just kind of facing challenges. They know they have to save the earth, apparently. And I like that ‘apparent.’ “is that what we’re supposed to do? Our dad’s dead, so we don’t really know, anymore.” I like that being there.
Thank You to Cali for finding it :)

May 16, 2008Kooks vs Artic Monkeys
Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard kicked Alex Turner in the head after he caught the singer trying to disconnect his guitar during a show a year ago. Luke said: "We've had a weird relationship with the Arctics since we first met. I had to kick Alex in the face because he was trying to pull the leads out of my guitar pedals while we were on stage. "We had done so many shows back to back with them, and it just escalated. We've got this beef. But he shouldn't have touched my guitar.' Despite the animosity, Luke insists he has tried to patch things up with his rivals. He added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "I saw them recently in a studio and asked Alex if he wanted to have a bit of a jam in the studio, but he just turned his back and walked away. "I suppose they are quite arrogant - but who can blame them. They've got a lot going for them. It's a shame because he is a genius musician, and a really talented song writer.

May 14, 2008And they call US childish? Thank God for MCR ...I really cannot believe some people on this website. Is it possible that there are people on this website who have nothing better to do than bash others and try to dig up shit on them. Yes I posted a simple bulleting saying how much I miss a friend. But haha jealousy gets the best of everyone (yup thats right i said 'jealousy' ... over it yet?)
BUT thankfully MCR are here to keep our minds occupied (cause some people seem to forget that music and people is the reason we are on here not status *geez*)

May 12, 2008MCR being blamed for yet MORE teenage suicides/deaths !
A girl of 13 killed herself after becoming obsessed with a fashion which links death with glamour, an inquest heard. Hannah Bond hanged herself from her bunk bed with a tie after becoming an "Emo". Emo fans wear dark clothes, practise self-harm and listen to "suicide cult" rock bands. Two weeks before her death, she started following U.S. band My Chemical Romance. One of their songs contains the lyrics: "Although you're dead and gone, believe me your memory will go on." Hannah, described as a model pupil, had started cutting her wrists but told her father it was part of an initiation into the Emo fashion. Heartbroken: Ray and Heather Bond told the court their daughter had told them emo was 'just a fashion' Coroner Roger Sykes said yesterday that Hannah's death was "not glamorous, just simply a tragic loss of a young life".Hannah's mother Heather told the inquest she had researched the trend since her daughter's death. "There are websites that show pink teddies hanging themselves," she said. "She called Emo a fashion and I thought it was normal." She added: "Hannah was a normal girl. She had loads of friends. She could be a bit moody but I thought it was just because she was a teenager." Hannah's father Ray, a karate teacher, said: "Two weeks before, I saw the cuts. I asked her about them and she said it was an Emo initiation. "She promised me she would never do it again." Hannah gave her name as Living Disaster on her page on social networking website Bebo. The page is decorated with a picture of an Emo girl with bloody wrists after slashing herself. Another picture shows a child's exercise book scrawled with the words: "Dear Diary, today I give up. . ." The inquest in Maidstone, Kent, heard Hannah had been with her boyfriend at a friend's house on the evening of September 22 last year. She had been angry when she was told she was not allowed to sleep over and when she got home in East Peckham she went straight to her room, saying: "I want to kill myself." The inquest was told Hannah had not used drugs or alcohol before her death but Vanessa Everett, her head teacher at Mascalls School, said self-harm had become commonplace among other Emo fans. Recording a verdict of suicide, Mr Sykes said: "The Emo overtones concerning death and associating it with glamour I find very disturbing." •The Emo phenomenon began in the U.S. in the 1980s. It is a largely teenage trend and is characterised by depression, self-injury and suicide. Followers wear tight jeans with studded belts and wristbands. Their hair is dyed black and worn in long fringes to obscure their faces. Emo - from the word emotional - is a reference to the angst-filled lyrics and melancholy themes of the rock music central to the culture. One of the foremost of these "suicide cult" bands is My Chemical Romance, from New Jersey. Their first single, Welcome to the Black Parade, from the album The Black Parade, was released in 2006 and became a huge hit, going to number one in Britain. The concept album follows the story of a character called The Patient, who dies of cancer. The Black Parade is a nickname for the place where Emo fans believe they will go when they die.
This article was taken from several websites such as http://www.thisislondon.co.uk, http://www.dailymail.co.uk and http://www.telegraph.co.uk
This just really makes me sick. First of all this is why I dislike emo's. She killed herself just cause her parents didn't let her sleep at her friends house. Just for the "emo" fashion. And the worst part? They are hinting that "My Chemical Romance" are to take the blame. Sort of "warning" the parents not to let them listen to MCR because that will happen. At my school the same thing happened. One girl tried to cut herself to death in the bathroom and she was an mcr "fan". So the headmistress banned anything MCR in the school.

May 5, 2008Mikey's Message on New MCR CD/DVD & Mask/Coffin Pics
Hey Guys and Gals,
We have all been anxiously waiting for June 24th. On this day, the DVD/CD entitled "The Black Parade is Dead" hits stores, online outlets, and other avenues. Starting today, you'll be able to preorder said DVD/CD directly from theblackparadeisdead.com. It depicts the final "Black Parade" show in all of its arena-rock glory, live from Mexico City this past Fall. We also decided to include a video of the intimate show we had at New Jersey's legendary club, Maxwells, this past October. We played one of our very first shows on that stage, and it was amazing to be on it once again. These shows were some of the most memorable and fun we've ever had onstage. The kids at the Mexico City show actually overpowered the PA, and their voices were deafening. The Maxwells show was complete pandemonium, and the video captures the feeling of and old school MCR show, the way it was way back when. I want to apologize for the wait, as we wanted to make sure that it was absolutely perfect for your viewing pleasure. With the pre-order, you are entitled to 3 DRM-free download of select tracks from the Mexico City show (Mama, Dead, and Welcome to the Black Parade). Inside the special edition, you'll find the DVD tucked inside of a collectible pinewood coffin box with our logo burned into the top. Also, inside, you will receive 1 of 5 Day of The Dead-esque masks we each designed. We had a blast designing them, and hope you have a blast wearing them, (or whatever else you choose to do with them). The special edition also contains a "death certificate of authenticity with our signatures printed on it. This edition if extremely limited, so if you want one, pre-order sooner than later. We are almost finished with our special intimate theater tour and it's been insane. Some of venues we haven't played in many years, and flood my head with fond memories. It's amazing to be able to share with all of our fans old and new. We love each and every one of you, and hope you have as much fun watching it as we had making it. Regards Mikeyway
